We at Papercup are a huge fan of this man! The maker of Dev D, Gangs of Wasseypur, Sacred Games and more has won our hearts again and again. It was a great moment for us when Somrwita met him and gifted him a box full of Papercup merchandise themed on his movies at the Premiere of Fool For Love for Large Short Films by Royal Stag. Anurag Kashyap has acted in the movie along side Ritabhari Chakraborty. The latter is also the producer of the film.

Renowned Indian radio jockey, television anchor, singer, comedian and actor Mir Afsar Ali receives a box full of Papercup merchandise from Papercup Founder and Chief Happiness Officer, Somrwita Guha at The Park Hotel, Kolkata. Papercup was the gift partner of Fool For Love, a short film produced by Ritabhari Chakraborty. It was part of the Large Short Films by Royal Stag.
Ms. Somrwita Guha, Founder of PaperCup was interviewed by Doordarshan DD Bangla by Host, Supriti Chowdhury along side Mr. Manas Dhar, General Manager of United Bank. The interview was telecasted live on 12th June, 2018 from 4-5 pm IST on Doordarshan. In the interview, Somrwita speaks about the inception of the start-up, her family, her team and the general philosophy behind Papercup as a social enterprise.
Somrwita Guha was one of the panelists at the 2nd Annual Women Empowerment Forum organised by GPE of Lubhna Maelzar. It was hosted at the main auditorium of Kolkata International Book Fair on 2nd February 2019. The panel talked about gender rights, safety issues and long standing patriarchal norms of our society. Other panelists at the forum were Dolly Basu (Television Actress, Theatre Personality, Social Activist), Abhishek Dutta (Fashion Designer), Dr. Dolly Gupta (Dermatologist), Nandini Choudhury (Meditation mentor, TV Show Host), Debraj Chaudhuri (Author), Prerona Roy (Success Coach). Our Founder, Somrwita Guha shares the journey of how she started Papercup at the age of 19 with almost no capital. India Today, the leading weekly Indian English-language news magazine featured Papercup in an article called “Buy This Way” that wrote about the best of quirky shopping in the city. Under a section called “One for nostalgia/Papercup”, India Today wrote “This Kolkata based father and daughter run product design company Papercup calls itself ‘The Happiest Start-Up Ever’. Somrwita Guha, an XLRI graduate works with graphic designers and illustrators and curates all things that spell Kolkata-cool. The company makes home accessories, quirky stationery and fashion accessories for retail and corporate gifting. ‘We employ young women from North Kolkata slums who make a significant number of our handmade products’ adds Guha”.
Papercup was featured in The Telegraph YOU in the Entrepreneurship section on 1st May 2018. The article named “Young Guns” featured 6 start-up owners and concluded that “in Business, starting early gives you a distinct advantage”. The article stated that “Somrwita Guha started her business at 19 when she was still a student at Jadavpur University, Calcutta”. The Telegraph YOU is a weekly higher education supplement that carries not only career advice but also has a hoard of lifestyle tips. It calls itself “Your Campus Buddy”.
t2 featured Papercup’s annual rooftop event at The Papercup Workstation. In 2018 the event was called “Ghore Pherar Gaan” (The Homecoming Song). The article was titled ‘Homecoming with Music, Poetry and Art’.
‘This is the fourth year we organised such an event. Ghore Pherar Gaan was special because we could collaborate with so many start-ups, musicians and poets from Calcutta and create a platform for everyone’ said Somrwita Guha in the article.
Business India, a leading corporate magazine featured Papercup and quoted Somrwita Guha, our founder in a start-up article called "Changing Ecosystem".It talked about how Kolkata start-ups are maturing in the present day.
